The first death anniversary of Sri Sathya Sai Baba was observed in Puttaparthi with the devotees of the late spiritual guru offering prayers at Prasanti Nilayam here.

Puttaparthi town in Anantapur district is gearing up for the first anniversary of the passing away of Sathya Sai Baba, who had millions of devotees around the world.

For the first time ever, the wealthy Sathya Sai Central Trust has publicly released an annual report of its activities. After the death of spiritual leader Sathya Sai Baba earlier this year - and the discovery of huge amounts of cash, gold, silver and other valuables - this is being presented as an attempt at greater transparency.

Cash, gold and silver continue to tumble out of cupboards in the late Sathya Sai Baba's residential quarters in Puttaparthi town of Andhra Pradesh, with valuables worth nearly Rs.59 crore being found so far in three rounds of counting.

Sai Baba samadhi: Sri Sathya Sai Baba's mahasamadhi was unveiled in Prasanthi Nilayam ashram in Puttaparthi today. The mahasamadhi is located in the Sai Kulwant Hall of the ashram, where Sai Baba used to give darshan to his devotees.

More gold has been found at Yajur Temple in Puttaparthi, the personal chambers of late Shri Sathya Sai Baba.
