Safety Of Jawans

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi this morning yet again targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accused the government of spending Rs 8,400 crore for special aircraft, while neglecting safety of soldiers.

A three-year-old boy survived as his grandfather was killed in a terror attack on the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore town this morning. A CRPF jawan was also killed in the line of duty as terrorists opened fire on a patrol team.

CRPF commanders have been asked to "ensure" that jawans come back safe from operations, the new chief of the paramilitary force has said in the backdrop of 40 personnel losing their lives in the last few months in Chhattisgarh.

At least 10 people, including two army jawans, were killed while over 100 others were evacuated to safety as the unprecedented snowfall in March triggered avalanches and damaged over 150 structures including dozens of houses in Jammu and Kashmir.
