Russia today called withdrawing Jammu and Kashmir's special status India's sovereign decision and an internal matter and pitched for resolving issues between New Delhi and Islamabad through dialogue.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has asked Pakistanis to not live in a "fool's paradise" by expecting United Nations Security Council to "wait with garlands" to support Islamabad's contentions regarding India's decision to end Jammu and Kashmir's special status.

Russia has backed India's move on Jammu and Kashmir, saying that the changes in the status are within the framework of the Indian Constitution and hoped that the differences between India and Pakistan are resolved bilaterally on the basis of the Simla Agreement and the Lahore Declaration.
