"Right now, not only regional films but also Hollywood films are getting bigger openings than Bollywood movies," said Madhavan

"This award is the biggest appreciation. I was emotional and happy when I heard the news from the media. I had thought that the film was not sent for consideration. So, after getting this news, I was shocked, 'Did they send the film? And am I selected?' This was my reaction," said Ritika Singh

Directed by Sudha Kongara, Irudhi Suttru also featured R Madhavan. "I'm speechless. This is like bagging an Oscar award. I need to thank the entire team of Irudhi Suttru for this honour. To be bestowed upon with such an award for your first film means a lot, and I consider this as an impetus to do better work," said Ritika

"Madhavan said that he would tell me within 48 hours whether he would do the film. Exactly 48 hours later, he called and told me, 'What a script you've written. I'm in.' But I told him that I didn't have a producer and I wanted the film to reach out to people and for that to happen, we should take it to the right people," said Sudha

"I was born in a family of very strong women. I went to a school which was run by women. My mother was the chief manager of a bank for 30 years. So, I am conditioned to be like this. Every time I choose a film, I see that there is a strong part for the female protagonist to play," said Madhavan

Ritika is excited. Her mentor and Sala Khadoos co-star R Madhavan has a word of caution. "It's absolutely impossible to get a first break. It's even more difficult for the film to be made and be a hit," she said

Saala Khadoos, which has been co-produced by Rajkumar Hirani, also casts Ritika Singh, who will make her debut in Bollywood with this film. "All sports based films have done really well if I go by statistics. Saala Khadoos is not just a sports film. But, it's a relationship film," said Madhavan

"Madhavan had invited Ritika and me for breakfast. But, he arrived at my residence with a veshti (lungi) this morning. He insisted that I should wear this traditional attire. Initially, I was hesitant, but now I am feeling nice and comfortable in this," said Rajkumar Hirani

"It was a dream come true, as in my first film I have Rajkumar Hirani as the producer and Madhavan as my co-star. Who can get a better role than this?" Ritika said. "I am open to do all kind of films. I want to try something else as I can't do action. I have got beaten up and beat up people," she added

"The thought came from Sudha and Maddy (Madhavan) that we should cast a boxer, because the film has a lot of boxing matches. If a boxer plays the role, it will look real. I was the one who was averse to the idea, because we will get a boxer, but how will she act? She (Ritika) is very real," said Rajkumar Hirani
