Pc Chacko Quits Congress

Former Kerala Congress leader PC Chacko will joined the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party today. After having been a part of it for decades, he quit his former organisation on March 10 following differences over seat allocation.

PC Chacko, after quitting the Congress on Wednesday over "lack of democracy", ruled out joining the BJP saying the idea of joining any "communal party" was unacceptable to him. But he also made it clear that even this close to the April 6 Kerala election, he saw no option but to quit the Congress.

Congress veteran PC Chacko quit the party today complaining that there was "no democracy left" in the Congress and not sparing the "high command" in his recriminations. "There is no Congress party in Kerala as such," just two factions of the party, he said. But he firmly dismissed speculation about joining the BJP.

A day after the Congress's second consecutive crash in the Delhi election, senior leader PC Chacko has offered to quit amid condemnation of his comments apparently pointing a finger at Sheila Dikshit, a widely-respected party leader who died last year. Delhi Congress chief Subhash Chopra has also offered his resignation.

A day after Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken and the party's in-charge for the state PC Chacko sent in their resignations assuming moral responsibility for the debacle in polls to Delhi's three municipal bodies, party vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday asked them to "continue to do the work they are doing."
