India's Online Retail Sector Likely to Touch $325 Billion Market Size by 2030: Deloitte Report

The country's online retail market size may touch $325 billion (roughly Rs. 26,65,081 crore) by 2030 against $70 billion (roughly Rs. 5,74,017 crore) in 2022, mainly due to rapid growth of e-commerce in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, according to a Deloitte India report released on Tuesday.

In India, a new controversy has erupted over the decision to open up the vast retail sector to foreign supermarkets. In the US, Wal-Mart has disclosed that it spent 25 million dollars or 125 crores in the last four years on lobbying for various projects including "enhanced market access for investment in India."
