In a pioneering development, scientists have created a bionic leg that allows below-the-knee amputees to walk naturally, climb stairs, and even dance by using their neural system for control.

Facebook on Friday said that it is developing a wristband to control its augmented reality (AR) glasses that are expected to be launched this year. The AR-supporting wearable device will also be capable of detecting nerve signals to interpret complex hand gestures and moves, the company detailed in a blog post.

ARM has announced a partnership with the University of Washington's Center for Sensorimotor Neural Engineering to develop chips that can be implanted into human brains.

"By totally controlling what the patient sees and hears, we can put him in situations that allow us to do tests on certain (neural) connections that were not possible before."
