MS Paint is gaining support for two important features that will allow users to edit images using layers and edit transparent images. The features are being tested on the Microsoft Paint app on the Windows Insider Dev and Canary channels and is expected to roll out to all users at a later date.

On Monday, the Internet went into overdrive after seeing Microsoft Paint in the 'deprecated' column of the upcoming Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. Many were quick to assume this meant Microsoft was killing off Paint.But, as it turns out, that's not the case.
