Bollywood superstar and owner of Kolkata Knight Riders IPL franchise Shah Rukh Khan celebrated his team's victory over the Kings XI Punjab with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata yesterday.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee once again batted for Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan when she requested Union Minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh for reconsideration of the Maharashtra Cricket Association imposing 5-year ban on the entry of IPL franchisee Kolkata Knight Riders owner to the Wankhede stadium.

It was de facto holiday in Kolkata on Tuesday as the Mamata Banerjee government pulled out all the stops to celebrate Kolkata Knight Riders' Indian Premier League (IPL) win with thousands of people on the streets and offices reporting thin attendance. Businesspersons and economists termed it a colossal loss of productivity.

The 'City of Joy' got together today to celebrate the victory of Kolkata Knight Riders, the newly-crowned IPL champions. From packed streets to a packed Eden Gardens, tens of thousands of fans came out to show their support for the team; leading them from the front was none other than Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Around 70,000 fans turned up to welcome the Kolkata Knight Riders players for their maiden IPL title win after West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee felicitated them.

After four years of underachievement the Knight Riders have given the people of Kolkata and all their fans across the world the one thing they wanted the most - the IPL trophy. And the City of Joy is in no mood to let go this opportunity to celebrate the win and felicitate their heroes.
