Kingfisher passengers faced a fresh hell today as at least 40 flights were cancelled. The crisis was created by pilots who called in sick to highlight that their salaries have not been paid for several months. Eleven flights were cancelled out of Mumbai alone.

Under fire for large-scale cancellation of flights, beleaguered Kingfisher Airlines' promoter Vijay Mallya tonight offered his unconditional apology to inconvenienced passengers. "We tried to reach as many as possible, we tried to make alternative bookings, refunds," Mr Mallya told NDTV.

Kingfisher cancelled 30 flights today, most of them out of Mumbai, but said it is now offering passengers a full refund. After a weekend when nearly 50 per cent of its flights were cancelled, gone were the lame excuses about aircraft being grounded by bird hits.

Hundreds of passengers booked on Kingfisher flights are stranded, with the cash-strapped carrier cancelling 12 flights out of Mumbai and four of Delhi early this morning. There were large-scale cancellations over the weekend too and could land the airline in trouble with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Passengers booked on Kingfisher Airlines are in for some trouble as the country's third largest airline has announced that its operations will be curtailed over the next four days. On Sunday, Kingfisher Airlines cancelled 16 flights from Mumbai. Several other Kingfisher flights from Mumbai have also been delayed.

A Kingfisher flight from Mumbai to Lucknow landed at the wrong runway at the Lucknow airport - the pilot ended up on a taxiway that was closed for repairs.All passengers are safe.The pilot followed the instructions of the Air Traffic Control which guided him to Taxiway Delta. The pilot discovered a pothole and found that the runway had been closed....
