India-Canada diplomatic ties soured further this week after allegations by Canadian federal police that "agents" of Delhi are working with organised criminals to "target (the) South Asian community... specifically pro-Khalistani elements" there.

India-Canada trade talks - suspended since September - will be on ice while Canada is "focused" on probing "credible allegations" linking Indian agents to the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Nijjar, Canada Trade Minister Mary Ng suggested.

Days after being scolded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on rising secessionist activities and Khailstan-supporters attacking Indian diplomatic missions on their land, Canada has said it is postponing a trade mission to India planned for October.

In the latest setback to already complicated relations, Canada's trade commission announced on its website that the trade mission to India had been postponed.
