An FIR was lodged today against 14 people here in connection with botched up cataract surgeries conducted at a free camp last week which have resulted in complete loss of vision in the operated eye for more than 20 patients, an official said.

A member of the hospital's managing committee told PTI on condition of anonymity that altogether 65 people were operated on at the eye camp held on November 22.

Two months after "botched" surgeries at a cataract camp in Indore sent the Kamal Nath-led Madhya Pradesh government into fire-fighting mode, similar complaints have now cropped up from his home constituency of Chhindwara. Four patients have reported deteriorating vision after a cataract operation, spurring the state government to order an inquiry.
