Several anti-cancer drugs, antibiotics and vaccines will now become more affordable as they are among 34 new additions to the National List of Essential Medicines, with the government saying this will reduce "patients' out-of-pocket expenditure".

Thirty-four drugs, including some anti-infectives such as Ivermectin, Mupirocin and Nicotine Replacement Therapy, have been added to the National List of Essential Medicines taking the total drugs under it to 384.

The AarogyaSetu Mitr portal offers three essential healthcare services – Consult Doctor, Home Lab Tests, and ePharmacy. One of its key services is free COVID-19 related consultations.

The maximum retail price of bare metal stents (BMS) and drug eluting stents (DES) will be Rs 7,623 and Rs 31,080, respectively, inclusive of VAT and other local taxes.

The government is also revising the National List of Essential Medicines of 2015 to include more medicines.
