A massive landslide swept through a gold mining area in mountainous Tibet early Friday morning, burying 83 workers believed to have been asleep at the time, Chinese state media said.

China poured rescue crews and equipment into a mountainous Tibetan region Thursday in a bid to find survivors more than a day after strong earthquakes killed more than 600 people and injured thousands.
