Tata Motors and Castrol on Thursday inked a three-year agreement under which the lubricants maker would supply commercial vehicle oils to the homegrown auto major in over 50 markets including SAARC and ASEAN region, Middle East, Africa, Russia and Latin America.

Castrol India Ltd said on Friday it was not aware of any stake sale in the company by Castrol Ltd, a unit of oil major BP Plc, and said recent news reports that such a transaction would take place were based on market speculation.

Oil major BP Plc sold part of the stake its unit Castrol Ltd holds in Castrol India Ltd, but said it would remain a majority shareholder in the company.

A major fire broke out at an oil depot at Wadala area in central Mumbai this evening due to a suspected leakage, fire brigade sources said.

Castrol has launched the Vecton RX Fuel Saver 10W-40, diesel engine oil which was co-engineered by Castrol and Tata Motors. The oil is designed to increase the fuel efficiency of Tata trucks by 3%, which will not only save substantial amounts of diesel but also operating costs for these trucks.

Global engine oil maker Castrol announced the launch of Magnatec Stop-Start engine oil on Thursday.

BSE will exclude Castrol India from S&P BSE 500, S&P BSE 200, S&P BSE Oil & Gas and S&P BSE 500 Shariah indices effective from February 28, a statement said.

On the business outlook, Mr Kirpalani said that continued economic headwinds, rupee volatility and high crude and base oil prices are likely to impact the growth and margins in the short term.
