  The public sector lender reported a net profit of Rs 610.8 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2014, ahead of analyst estimates of Rs 497 crore. However, its profit were lower from the same period a year earlier, when it had reported a profit of Rs 725.3.crore.

  Canara Bank today reported nearly 13 per cent decline in net profit to Rs 725 crore for the last quarter of the 2012-13 fiscal year due to higher provisioning. Its net profit over the same period in the previous fiscal year was at Rs 829.09 crore.
