A 13-year-old boy succumbed to dengue in the Haveri district while another resident succumbed to rat-bite fever in the same district of Karnataka on Monday.

Bengaluru on Saturday reported its first confirmed case of a death due to dengue since January amid a recent spike in cases, a senior official said.

Amid a surge in dengue cases in Bengaluru, Karnataka Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dinesh Gundu Rao Friday launched a disease surveillance dashboard and a mobile application for effective monitoring and curbing of the vector-borne disease.

More than 3,200 dengue cases have been reported in Bengaluru in the past two months, said Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao.
