Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said that the BJP has kept its assurance of giving at least one Lok Sabha seat with 'winning chance' to its alliance partner Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) so that the regional party has representation in lower House.

The BJP will contest 11 seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls in Assam, leaving three for its allies Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Thursday.

Asom Gana Parishad, a BJP ally, has promised in its poll manifesto the implementation of the 1985 Assam Accord, which states that the government would identify and deport refugees and migrants who had come into the state after March 25, 1971.
