Ms Banerjee, who fasted during the day and prepared the 'bhog' (offering to the Goddess), played host to scores of guests, which included VVIPs, cabinet colleagues, politicians and commoners.
The doors of Banerjee's spartan home at Harish Chatterjee Street here were thrown open on Thursday to the public.
Clad in her trade mark cotton saree and rubber slippers, Ms Banerjee stood with folded hands and greeted the people and VIPs at her single storey house for the puja, which she has been holding for the last 36 years since 1978, during her days as student leader.
Keeping in mind the large number of visitors at Ms Banerjee's residence, the police strengthened security arrangements in and around the area.
