Amul's Utterly-Butterly Tribute to ‘Dare Hostess' Neerja

  • Amul's latest ad toasts Sonam Kapoor's Neerja in its own quirky way. The advert, a spoof on a scene from the film, shows the Amul girl sitting in Sonam's lap along with two other children. The tagline aptline reads, 'Dare Hostess.' In Neerja, Sonam plays the titular role of the stewardess who died while saving lives on hijacked Pan Am Flight 73 in 1986. The valiant national hero, who saveed 359 lives helped evacuate everyone on board but was shot while leading a group of children to safety.

  • Amul celebrated the success of SS Rajamouli's multi-lingual film Baahubali in its own quirky way. Its latest advert shows the Amul girl offering a slice of bread to Prabhas while Rana Dagubatti - who plays his arch-rival in the film - fumes at a distance. The caption aptly says "Bahut Butterli," and the tagline reads, "Massive hit."

  • While social media continues to debate whether or not Deepika Padukone's 'My Choice' video is really empowering, Amul has its own tongue-in-cheek take on the entire matter. The brand's latest advert shows the Amul girl cheekily imitating Deepika's wind-blown hairstyle in the video, dressed much like the actress. The tagline reads, "It's My Choice!," with the caption, "To use a butterknife or use my fingers," at the end.

  • While many may not have seen the joke in AIB's Knockout Roast, Amul has. The dairy brand finds the roast (read toast), featuring actors Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and filmmaker Karan Johar, utterly-butterly delicious. In a comment on the censorship of the roast and the double standards that some have remarked upon, the Amul girl hides behind the trio simultaneously filming and shushing them.

  • Amul's latest advert pays tribute to Shahid Kapoor's Haider in its own quirky way. The ad, a spoof on a song from the movie, shows the Amul girl sitting beside Shahid instead of Shraddha Kapoor, feeding him a toast and sheltering him with an umbrella. The travel drama beat The Lunchbox as India's entry for the Oscars fuelling a debate about whether it was the correct decision.

  • Amul has added its very own delicious twist to the critically acclaimed movie The Lunchbox.

    In the ad, an animated Irrfan sits with a dabba by his side and a slice of bread in his hand. The Amul girl is seen in the reflection handing over another slice to him while reading a letter.

    The tagline aptly reads “Munch Box!”, with the caption “Dabba-ly delicious” written at the bottom of the ad. The Lunchbox, which features Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, has garnered a lot of positive response since its screening at the Cannes Film Festival.

  • Amul has added an utterly butterly delicious twist to Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat's rendition of Happy Birthday for Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on his 63rd birthday, which fell on September 17.

    The video of the actress crooning a breathy version of Happy Birthday, in the vein of Marilyn Monroe's famous version for then US President John f Kennedy on his 45th birthday, went viral within minutes of its release.

    The ad shows the Amul girl dressed up and sitting much like Mallika Sherawat, with the tagline appropriately saying “Naye Saal Ki Sheruwat.” A picture of Mr Modi pops out of a cake by her side.

  • Amul has been prompt at latching on to the buzz around this year's Indian origin winner of Miss America, who became a victim of a barrage of racist tweets soon after winning the title. The ad shows the Amul girl crowning an animated Nina Davuluri with the tagline appropriately saying "Racist Missbehaviour".

  • Amul added its own yummy twist to the much-talked about success of Shah Rukh Khan's movie Chennai Express.

    Taking a leaf out of Deepika famous bokwaas dictionary dialogue, the advertisement reads Bokwaasoffice Hit. The Amul girl and another caricature literally raise a toast to Shah Rukh and Deepika, all dressed South-style.

  • Amul toasted the end of the film industry's most talked about feuds between Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan in its own quirky way. The latest ad shows the Amul girl carrying a tray full of goodies for the two stars who are shown hugging each other at an Iftar party. The tagline appropriately says "IFSTAR PARTY."

    SRK and Salman ended their feuds by hugging each other at an Iftar party hosted by Congress leader and Bandra MLA Baba Siddique on July 21.

  • Amul toasted the Guns N' Roses' much-awaited concert tour of India this month with a special ad for the international hard rock band. Aptly titled ‘Appetite for Dish-truction', a play on their hit debut album Appetite for Destruction, the ad shows the Amul girl dressed as a rock star dancing with a cartoon version of band frontman Axl Rose.

    Guns N' Roses' will perform in Bangalore on December 7, in Mumbai on December 9 and end their multi-city tour in Gurgaon on December 12.
