The rat jumped out of a woman's purse which was lying unattended on a seat
Well, New York subway stations are no stranger to rats. Remember the viral superstar "pizza rat" that was seen lugging a slice of pizza across the tracks? But in a new video recorded inside a train, commuters were terrorised by a rat who hitched a free ride on the subway.
Stunned commuters jumped on their seats as a rat scurried through the train forcing New Yorkers to hold their legs up in the air. Chaotic scenes played out as the rodent hid under a seat, jumped out from a purse and ran across the train car through screams (and some laughs) of frightened passengers.
"He tried to jump on somebody," one passenger exclaims in the video.
The rat tries to leave but the doors are shut. It runs for its life as one man tries to step on it. The video ends abruptly with no sight of the unwelcome guest.
Despite the commotion, the people in the video are seen recording the mayhem caused by the ticketless commuter on their respective phones. One such video was uploaded on Liveleak. According to
Daily Mail, the video was taken last week in either an A, C, 3 or 4 train.
