Mumbai: Posh Salon In Lower Parel Gives Patron An Ear-Cut

During the haircut, Nitin Kagzi felt a sting on his left ear, and the hairstylist cutting his hair did not tell him what had happened. Kagzi immediately called for his wife, Prachi, who saw that a part of her husband's ear had been cut off.

When Nitin Kagzi, a businessman from Peddar Road, made his way to a branded salon in Lower Parel for a routine haircut, he had certainly not imagined having a part of his ear cut off. A senior hairstylist from the salon allegedly sliced off a part of Kagzi's ear while cutting his hair. While the stylist's services have been terminated, Kagzi and his wife are considering taking a legal recourse.

The incident occurred at around 1.30 pm yesterday, during Kagzi's haircut appointment at the salon. In the middle of the session, he felt a sting on his ear and realised that something had gone wrong. While he alleges that the concerned stylist didn't tell him what happened, he immediately called for his wife Prachi, who was present with him at the salon.

Rushed For Surgery

"I was horrified when I saw it. They had put a small bandage on the ear. When I removed it, I saw that a part of his ear was completely chopped off. His ear was bleeding and we rushed him to Breach Candy Hospital for treatment," said Prachi.

At the hospital, Kagzi had to undergo a small surgery due to the injury. While the surgery lasted for an hour, Prachi said that it cost them around Rs 10,000, including hospital costs and medicines.
Kagzi has a yearly package at the salon, which costs him around Rs 25,000. The haircuts included in the deal are to be conducted by a senior stylist. This was Kagzi's fifth year with the salon.

Clueless Employees

"We kept asking them to give us the contact details of the owner or stakeholder of the salon but the employees said they have no clue who they work for. The incident was completely outrageous as the salon is probably passing off junior stylists or trainees who don't even know how to hold scissors as senior stylists," said a furious Prachi.

As Kagzi shared the details on the official page of Jean-Claude Biguine Salons, India, and on his own social networking account, they soon received a call and an e-mail from the CEO of the company, who expressed his regrets for their last visit not living up to expectations.

Cursory Apology

The e-mail sent by Samir Srivastav, CEO of Jean-Claude Biguine Salons and Spa said, 'Sir, you have been a long-standing patron at JCB and this has never happened before with any client and the stylist has an absolutely clear track record. I tremendously value our relationship and trust that once the problems are solved, you'll be back for more pleasant, fulfilling experiences at our salons.'

"He sounded like we had experienced a bad haircut, or a hair colour session went wrong. We are thinking of taking a legal course in this matter," added Prachi.
