Mumbai: Dawood Ibrahim's Family To Throw Grand Wedding For Don's Nephew

The nikah will take place at 11 am at Rasool Masjid, followed by a reception at a hotel in Juhu.

Mumbai: The family of Dawood Ibrahim, once king of the underworld, is now going to throw his nephew a wedding fit for a prince.

Celebrations abound in the family of India's most wanted criminal, as Dawood's nephew Alishah is set to get married tomorrow. Alishah is the son of the don's deceased sister, Haseena Parkar. Last year, her daughter got married as well, but the family kept it a low-key affair since it was less than a year since Haseena's death. But this time, the family wants it to be a gala event.

Haseena Parkar died of a heart attack in July 2014.

"After nearly a decade, this is the first happy occasion for the family. Therefore they have decided to have lavish celebrations," said a close aide of the family.

Haseena's husband Ibrahim Parkar was allegedly murdered by the Arun Gawli gang in the late 1990s. They had one daughter, Umaira, and two sons - Danish and Alishah. Danish passed away in 2006.

The wedding invitation reveals that Alishah is marrying Ayesha - the daughter of Mumbai-based businessmen Shiraj Ali Mohammed Nagani. Sources close to the family said the nikah rituals will be carried out at 11 am at Rasool Masjid in Nagpada. But the real attraction will be the wedding reception or daawat-e-walima at the Tulip Star hotel in Juhu at 9 pm the same day. The reception will be held at the hotel's Harbour Hall, which can hold 800 guests.

Cops to keep watch

Even as the family is planning a mega show, the police are leaving no stone unturned to monitor the event. "Over a dozen Mumbai police personnel will keep a close watch on the proceedings to see if any underworld elements attend the function," said a senior police officer, adding, "Constables in plainclothes will not only keep vigil, but will even jot down the details of cars at the reception."

What's cooking?

The wedding feast will be prepared by Jaffer Bhai's Delhi Darbar. The signature dish will be an "authentic Mughlai biryani", said a spokesperson, adding, "The menu is quite elaborate. There will also be a salad bar where food will be served in a shell. For instance, we will have scooped water melon cubes in the watermelon shell."
