Mumbai: Two elderly sisters were found dead inside their flat in suburban Chembur on Thursday, police said.
Police suspect it to be a suicide case as the door of the flat in which, both Mohini Jethvani and Basanti Jethvavni (both aged above 70) was found locked from the inside. The deceased were unmarried and have been staying together in eastern Mumbai. They do not have any close relatives, police said.
As per the CCTV footage, the duo were last seen picking up a newspaper from outside their flat on Tuesday at around 2.30 pm.
According to police, the flat was in a poor condition. Police said the bodies had no external injuries, which were sent for postmortem.
