The Bollywood female buddy flick Veere Di Wedding may have finally released last week after months of anticipation but the buzz around it is far from over. After making one spectacular style statement after the next during promotions, it is now the movie characters and their sartorial sense which is being gushed over. While all four leading ladies' characters were fashion conscious in breezy resort wear and glitzy dresses, it was Kareena Kapoor's character that really made us sit up and take notice, especially in one particular scene.
Kareena plays the commitment-phobic Kalindi Puri, whose opulent wedding plays a focal point in the plot. For the marriage scene, the actress is seen entering demurely, surrounded by her gal pals and plenty of flowers. Devoid of flashiness or red hues, it's an unconventional Bollywood wedding look to say the least but possibly her best yet.
As Kalindi, Kareena is wearing an off-shoulder yellow, gold and white lehenga from Abu Jani - Sandeep Khosla with embellished sleeve details, gold jewellery on her wrists and a simple necklace that showcased the graceful neckline.
On Instagram, one half of the duo Sandeep Khosla has said that the magnificent ensemble is actually a vintage creation that is 25 years old. The film's producer and style maven Rhea Kapoor found the outfit at the factory, which was later tailored and modernised for the movie.
The beauty quotient of Kalindi's look was also on par with the outfit. Makeup was by Bollywood favourite Mickey Contractor, who gave Kareena dark brown defined eye makeup, full brows, subtle contouring, creamy nude lips and a red bindi to top it off. Understated and beautiful, it's a refreshingly subtle look to see on-screen.
Last but definitely not the least is Kalindi's hairstyle that finished off the entire look wonderfully. Created by hairstylist to the stars Pompy Hans, it consists of an effortless updo with a few stray strands and is offset by tiny white flowers on either side.
Altogether, a glorious look that's sure to be bridal inspiration for many summer weddings.
