It's not diwali without consecutive taash parties, right? We get it, we really do. And just because you lost a lot of money this diwali, it doesn't mean that you're in trouble. There are still multiple ways to make your bank balance look healthier - and here are some things that can be easily done.
1. Second guess yourself
Set a limit - say, 500 or 1000. Every time you're about to spend more than that, ask yourself if you really, really need it. Can it wait a month? If it can, it can probably wait longer too. Come down to spending only on the bare essential. Travel, food, rent, repeat.
2. Take a break from monthly subscriptions
With time, we all end up collecting a lot of subscriptions. It can be anything from your Netflix, or extra space on your phone. Make a list of all of these things and see which one of them you can cancel for a while. It might not seem like it, but it's the little things that really do add up.
3. Finally, figure out your investment declaration
If you've been delaying it because you really don't know where to begin - STOP. It's time to get responsible about taxes. Sit down with an older family member who can help or even an accountant, with all of your papers, and figure out where you can make your savings. It's a long term fix for a short term problem.
4. Freeze your credit card
Seems extreme? It's really not! Credit cards have a habit of making you feel comfortable about spending money that you don't really have. So take them out of your wallet, put them in a bowl of water and in the freezer it goes. Don't break the ice until your account balance can really afford it.
5. Start an RD
How to feel better during all of this budgeting? Well, establish an occasion you want to save up for. It could be new year's eve or a friend's wedding. Now, start an RD for it - for how much ever you can afford to right now. Knowing that you'll be able to spend money at this event will make it all seem worthwhile!
