Kanpur Police Launch New Helpline

Kanpur: In a bid to ensure quick redressal of grievances, Kanpur police today launched a helpline on which people can register their complaints through calls or messages.

The police claims that the action will be taken on the complaint within 24 hours of its registration.

The helpline number 0512-2310512 titled as 'Ek Number Bharose Ka' (a number to rely on) was launched in 176 police stations of all the 9 districts under Kanpur zone - Kanpur city, Kanpur village, Etawah, Auraiya, Kannauj, Farrukhabad, Jhansi, Jalaun and Lalitpur, said a statement issued by the IG office today.

The emergency 100 service will continue to operate.

For the Helpline, SHO's of all the police stations have been provided with special application 'Kanpur Police App' on their mobiles, it added.

The complainant will have to mention his name, address and his police station while registering the complaint. It would then reach to the respective police officer who would issue a 6 digit code to check the status of the complaint.

The police claims that the registered problem can be solved within 24 hours of registering the complaint. If not, then it would be further transferred to the Circle Officer, SSP and IG for the necessary action.

A team of two sub-inspectors and ten constables has been constituted to further follow up the case.

In a view to ensure quick action, a mobile number- 7704020202, has also been set up to register a complaint via SMS or audio or video message or through WhatsApp.
