Kochi:
Former Union minister and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has today asked the authorities to name the international airport at nearby nedumbassery after late Congress leader K Karunakaran.
Karunakaran was instrumental in seeing the country's first airport to be constructed on a PPP basis become a reality.
Tweeting in his blog, Tharoor said, "In celebrating leader's life, I call 4 (for) Nedumbassery aiport in Kochi to renamed Karunakaran International in honour of the man who made it."
In another tweet, he wanted the statue of Karunakaran should be set up in the assembly complex.
