Supporters of Mamata's party allegedly attack former West Bengal minister Rezzak Mollah

Kolkata: Senior CPI(M) leader and former West Bengal minister Abdul Rezzak Mollah was allegedly attacked by Trinamool Congress supporters at Kanta Tala in South 24 Parganas district today, his party sources claimed.

The CPI(M) South 24 Parganas district secretary Sujan Chakraborty alleged that Mr Mollah, the party MLA from Bhangor in South 24 Parganas district, today went to the party office at Kanta Tala during which he was attacked by supporters of chief minister Mamata Banerjee's party.

Mr Mollah, the former Land and Land Revenue minister, has been rushed to a private hospital, Mr Chakraborty claimed.

The ruling Trinamool Congress refuted the CPI(M) allegations that their supporters attacked Mr Mollah at Kanta Tala under the Kolkata Leather Complex police area.

It is a "totally baseless" allegation, the party said. However, police said till 2.30 pm they have not yet received any complaints about the attack on Mr Mollah.
