Sheila Dikshit on CWG: I have nothing to say
Pune: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit stonewalled all queries by media persons in connection with the allegations of financial bungling in the Commonwealth Games (CWG) projects in the national capital on Sunday.

"I have nothing to say," she said when reporters sought her comments on the issue.

Dikshit was here to receive the Lokmanya Tilak award conferred upon her by the Tilak trust for her contribution to social development.

The CWG were hit by an alleged major scam after the British Government raised questions about a substantial sum of money which was transferred to a little known UK-based company A M Films from the Games' Organising Committee.

Reports claimed that over 4.50 lakh pounds were transferred through a British bank to the company, which was also said to be receiving 25,000 pounds a month for costume designing.

Also, according to a Central Vigilance Commission report, almost all organisations executing infrastructure works the Games have flouted rules in tenders and increased their prices, suggesting that contractors have been paid more than the right price.

As per the assessment report, large-scale procedural violations, including corruption, have been noticed in 14 projects.

Earlier, speaking at the award function, Dikshit said, "I am accepting this prestigious award on behalf of Delhi and not for me."

The award carries Rs 1 lakh and a citation.

Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and great grandson of Lokmanya Tilak and chairman of the Tilak trust Deepak Tilak.
