Chandigarh: Disgraced former Haryana police chief SPS Rathore, sent to jail in Ruchika Girhotra molestation case, will spend the night with seven others in a barrack of the high security Burail Jail in Chandigarh.
Rathore will be in the company of seven others in barrack no. 10 of the jail, DIG, Prisons, N S Randhawa said.
Barrack no. 10 lodges police personnel sent behind the bars in criminal cases, the DIG said.
He, however, declined to name the other inmates of the barrack.
Rathore was taken to the Burail Jail after the Sessions Court dismissed his plea challenging his six months rigorous imprisonment in the molestation case of the budding Tennis player.
The medical condition of the former Haryana DGP was found to be satisfactory.
Burail Jail sources told PTI Rathore was medically examined by the Jail doctor Balbir Singh.
"All the medical parameters, including ECG, were found to be normal," the sources said.
Meanwhile, Rathore is not the only top cop from the state to have been caught on the wrong side of the law.
Rathore is one of the three DGPs of the state police who have been caught on the wrong side of the law and spend time behind the bars.
Former DGPs Lachhman Das and Ramesh Sehgal were both arrested, the first in a murder case and the other in an alleged case of corruption.
