Priyanka confident of 'future PM' Rahul

Priyanka confident of 'future PM' Rahul
Amethi:

Never say never - that is the first indication from Priyanka Gandhi that she's not averse to joining politics.

Campaigning for her family, Priyanka was also asked about her brother Rahul Gandhi often referred to as the Prime Minister in waiting, and she gave Rahul a big thumbs for the top job.

"The next PM is hopefully going to be Manmohan Singh. But I have full faith in my brother. He's hard working and means well. And he's according to me qualified. I'm sure one day he will, and will do a good job," said Priyanka.

Perhaps for the first time ever, a member of the Gandhi family has openly endorsed Rahul's candidature for the top job but the Congress says that as far as this election goes, Manmohan Singh is very much their PM.

Despite the rejoinder, Priyanka's comment in Amethi on Sunday has set off yet another round of speculation in the never ending debate on Rahul being the PM.

In fact, Priyanka, who is not even contesting this time, does not even rule out her own entry into politics.

"As I'm growing older, I realise never is a bad thing to say. I'm not going to say never, but I don't see that happening," said Priyanka.

Not surprisingly, the Rahul-as-PM comment has got people talking yet again.

"Oh really! I thought Manmohan was their candidate. Has the Congress changed Manmohan Singh as their Prime Minister," said Sidharth Nath Singh, BJP spokesperson.

"When asked about future, Sidharth said, "Well, it's probably for the Congress to take a decision or may be it's his sister's love that is speaking."

Will he, wont he? Clearly, the debate is far from over.
