Prime Minister arrives in Hyderabad to attend convention on biodiversity

Hyderabad: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived in Hyderabad on Tuesday to take part in the ongoing 11th Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).

Mr Singh was received by Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan, state Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and his cabinet colleagues among others, at the Begumpet Airport this afternoon.

Chief Secretary Minnie Mathews, AP Congress Committee president Botcha Satyanarayana, DGP V Dinesh Reddy, Hyderabad Mayor Majid Hussain were among those who welcomed him.

According to an official schedule, the Prime Minister will fly to Hyderabad International Convention Centre--the venue of the biodiversity conference, in a helicopter.

After attending the biodiversity conference, he will proceed to Gachibowli by road to unveil a COP-11 commemorative pylon and lay the foundation stone of a biodiversity park and museum.

Mr Singh will then board a helicopter from the temporary helipad at Cyberabad Police Commissionerate towards Begumpet Airport, before leaving for Delhi in the evening.
