New Delhi: Narendra Modi was the star guest at a dinner hosted by BJP president Rajnath Singh in New Delhi for his party MPs where the Gujarat Chief Minister and veteran party leader LK Advani sat next to each other.

Mr Modi was the only special invitee at the annual dinner the party president hosts for his MPs.

While Mr Modi arrived early and was seen interacting with the guests, Mr Advani arrived after 10 pm after participating in the vote on the Land Acquisition Bill in Lok Sabha.

Sources said he was seated at the same table as Mr Modi, along with Mr Singh,  Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, the leaders of opposition in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

Mr Advani had resigned from all party positions in the wake of Mr Modi's anointment as the BJP poll campaign panel chief.

He later withdrew his resignations following an intervention by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.
