Nalini Sriharan gets back 'A' class in jail
Chennai: The Madras high Court has restored first class status to Rajiv Gandhi murder convict Nalini Sriharan in Vellore jail. The court has directed prison authorities to provide "A" class facility.

The status was withdrawn after mobile phone found in her possession in April, 2010. The phone, concealed in a cloth bag, was caught during a routine raid at the Vellore Jail.

Nalini had argued that she was penalised without a probe.

Nalini was sentenced to death in 1999 along with three other convicts - Murugan, Santhan and Perarivalan. She is married to Murugan. After Nalini gave birth to a baby girl in jail, her death sentence was commuted to life at the request of Mr Gandhi's wife, Sonia, who is the Congress president.
