In Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, debate on Afzal Guru hanging, burial
Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker Mubarak Gul today allowed discussion on the issue of the return of the body of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru to his family, even as the House witnessed disruptions over the matter.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti started the debate saying it was "inhumane" that the family of Afzal Guru was not allowed to meet him the last time.

She sought suspension of all the regular business of the House to "discuss this issue of urgent nature".

The ruling National Conference and Communist Party of India-Marxist too wanted discussion on the issue.

His family and major political groups in Kashmir are asking for the return of the body of Afzal Guru.
