Home for children priority: Slumdog director

Home for children priority: Slumdog director
Mumbai:

Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle is in Mumbai where he and producer Christian Coulson are looking at how they can get child stars Rubina Qureshi and Azharuddin Ismail a permanent home.

Rubina and Azhar's homes were demolished last week in an anti-slum drive but the plan has already hit a rough patch.

Rubina's father stormed out of a meeting with Danny Boyle and an NGO that's working to house them.

"We are on the street, our homes have gone but we only get assurances. We have been asking for the past 6-7months," said Rafiq Qureshi, Slumdog Star Rubina's father.

Boyle and Slumdog producer Christian Colson are in Mumbai to work out housing for the children after their shanties were recently demolished by civic authorities.

And to check on the children's education which Boyle and Colson are already paying for.

"We're in constant touch with the Jai Ho trust to make sure the kids are taken care of. Getting them homes is a priority. Work has begun on getting them homes," said Danny Boyle, Director, Slumdog Millionaire.

The trust that is finding new homes for the child stars says they have already found a home for one of the children and the other will also soon have a home. But the manner in which the parents have been raising the issue of housing specially in the media is raising eyebrows.
