India Covid Highlights: The daily positivity rate was recorded at 5.02 per cent.
With 16,167 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India's tally of COVID-19 cases has risen to 4,41,61,899 while the active cases have increased to 1,35,510, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.
The death count has climbed to 5,26,730 with 41 fatalities which includes eight deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data stated.
The active cases comprise 0.31 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.50 per cent, the ministry said.
An increase of 140 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 5.02 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 4.63 per cent, according to the ministry.

Chhattisgarh reports 389 Covid cases, 1 death
Chhattisgarh on Monday reported 389 COVID-19 cases at a positivity rate of 4.09 per cent, taking the tally to 11,69,532, while the death toll increased by one to reach 14,081, an official said.
The recovery count rose by 447 and touched 11,52,169, leaving the state with 3,282 active cases.
Goa records 120 new COVID-19 cases, active tally at 946
Goa on Monday reported 120 COVID-19 cases at a high positivity rate of 13.2 percent, taking the tally in the coastal state to 2,53,162, a health official said, reports news agency PTI.
The death toll remained unchanged at 3,955, while the recovery count increased by 85 during the day and reached 2,48,261, he said.
The active caseload in Goa was 946, he said.
Gujarat logs 661 new coronavirus cases, 2 deaths
Gujarat reported 661 COVID-19 cases and two deaths on Monday, which took the tally to 12,61,922 and the toll to 10,980, a state health department official said, reports news agency PTI.
The recovery count increased by 692 and reached 12,45,080, leaving the state with an active caseload of 5,862, the official said.
A government release said 11.89 crore vaccine doses have been administered in Gujarat so far, including 2.56 lakh during the day.
Tamil Nadu records 972 new COVID-19 cases
With 972 cases reported on Monday, fresh COVID-19 cases in Tamil Nadu fell below the 1,000 mark, taking the overall tally to 35,53,670.
The death toll remained at 38,033, as no fatalities were reported today, according to a bulletin from the State health department.
The active cases declined to 9,408 from 9,889 yesterday.
1,453 patients were discharged following treatment today and the total recoveries mounted to 35,06,229.
Telangana logs 528 new Covid cases
Telangana on Monday recorded 528 new corona cases, pushing the tally to 8,26,284, according to the health department bulletin, reports PTI.
The highest number of cases, 196, were recorded in Hyderabad district.
771 people recovered from the infection and the total number of recoveries till date is 8,16,506.
No fresh fatality occurred due to the infectious disease and the death toll continued to be 4,111.
West Bengal records 377 new COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths
West Bengal's
Covid caselod rose to 20,99,433 on Monday as 377 more people tested positive for the infection, the health department bulletin said.
With 5 deaths on Monday, death toll climbed to 21,400, it said.
The state now has 7,302 active COVID-19 cases.
At least 917 more people recovered from the disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 20,70,731, the bulletin said.
Madhya Pradesh reports 169 new corona cases, active tally at 1,349
Madhya Pradesh on Monday reported 169
COVID-19 cases, which took the tally to 10,51,447, while the death toll remained unchanged at 10,762, an official said, reports news agency PTI.
There were 175 recoveries recorded during the day to reach 10,39,336, leaving the state with an active caseload of 1,349, he said.
The positivity rate was 2.4 per cent, the official added.
Maharashtra logs 1,005 COVID-19 cases, 4 deaths
Maharashtra on Monday reported 1,005 corona cases and four deaths, which took the case tally in the state to 80,60,737 and the death toll to 1,48,143, a health department official said.
The addition to the tally was a drop from the 1,812 cases recorded on Sunday, though the fatalities had risen to four from one, he said.
The recovery of 1,044 people in the last 24 hours took the overall number of people discharged to 79,00,626, leaving the state with an active caseload of 11,968.
The recovery rate stood at 98.01 per cent and the fatality rate stood at 1.83 per cent.
Mumbai records 407 new COVID-19 cases, active tally at 2,977
Mumbai on Monday recorded 407 new cases of coronavirus and one death due to the infection, raising the tally to 11,27,954 and toll to 19,660, an official from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.
At least 163 patients recovered from the infection during the day, taking the count of recoveries to 11,05,317, the official said.
The recovery rate in the city stands at 98 per cent, while growth rate of cases between August 1 and 7 was 0.035 per cent and the doubling rate was 2,001 days, the bulletin stated.
Ladakh logs 21 new Covid cases
Union Territory of Ladakh has logged 21 new cases of Coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the overall case tally to 29,004, officials said on Monday.
A total of 228 people have succumbed to Covid in Ladakh.
The officials said the number of active COVID-19 cases has gone down to 113 in Ladakh- 103 from Leh and 10 from Kargil.
The total number of recoveries in the union territory stands at 28,663, the officials added.
Jammu and Kashmir records 452 new Covid cases
Jammu and Kashmir recorded 452 new Covid cases on Monday, raising the tally to 4,70,201, officials said, reports news agency PTI.
94 cases were reported from the Jammu division, while 358 cases were reported from the Kashmir Valley, they said.
The death toll stands at 4,776 with no fatality in the past 24 hours, the officials said.
There are 5,045 active cases in the Union territory, while the number of recoveries has reached 4,60,380.
Himachal Pradesh reports 754 Covid cases, 3 deaths
Himachal Pradesh recorded 754 new COVID-19 infections on Monday pushing the state's case tally to 3,05,383, officials said, reported news agency PTI.
With three people succumbing to the disease, the death toll in the state rose to 4,157.
The tally of active COVID-19 cases in the state has now stood at 4,919.
On Monday, 5,298 samples were taken for testing and 754 of them have been tested positive for
Covid while as many as 838 people have recuperated from the disease taking the number of recoveries to 2,96,287, they said.
Nashik logs 61 COVID-19 cases
The COVID-19 tally in Maharashtra's Nashik reached 4,80,363 on Monday after 61 cases were logged, while the death toll stood unchanged at 8,902, an official said, reported news agency PTI.
The recovery count increased by 103 and touched 4,71,001, which left the district with an active caseload of 460, he added.
Single-day recoveries outnumber new Covid cases in Arunachal Pradesh
Single-day recoveries continued to surpass new Covid-19 cases in Arunachal Pradesh with nine people testing positive for the infection, while 35 people recovered from the disease on Monday, a senior health official said.
The northeastern state logged 32 new infections and 51 recoveries on Sunday.
With the new infections, the state's caseload rose to 66,205.
Arunachal Pradesh currently has 322 active cases, while 65,587 people have recuperated from the disease thus far.
Odisha records 652 new Covid cases, active tally rises to 5798
Odisha's COVID-19 tally rose to 13,19,527 on Monday as 652 more people, including 132 children, tested positive for the infection, while one more fatality pushed the toll to 9,149, a bulletin by the health department said.
Odisha now has 5,798 active cases, of which 1,357 are in Sundargarh.
As many as 704 more people were cured of the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 13,04,527.
Mizoram logs 64 fresh Covid cases, positivity rate at 26.3%
Mizoram reported 64 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday, 84 less than the previous day, as the tally rose to 2,34,144, a health department official said. The death toll remained unchanged at 711, he said.
The northeastern state now has 1,239 active cases, while 2,32,194 people have recovered from the disease so far.
Mizoram's daily positivity rate stood at 26.34 per cent.
Puducherry sees fall in new COVID-19 cases
Puducherry witnessed a further decline in fresh COVID-19 cases with 23 people infected by the virus on Monday. Of the Union Territory's four regions, Karaikal registered the maximum with 12 cases followed by Puducherry with eight, and Yanam three.
Mahe, an enclave of Puducherry in Kerala, did not report any fresh case, Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a press release. The UT had reported 59 cases on Sunday.
Mr Sriramulu said the 23 fresh cases surfaced during examination of 1,154 samples in the last 24 hours.
Assam reports 39 new COVID-19 cases
Assam reported 39 more COVID-19 cases, raising the tally on Monday to 7,41,541, according to a bulletin by National Health Mission (NHM). No new death was reported due to the disease in the last three days with the toll remaining unchanged at 6,673, the bulletin said.
Another 1,347 COVID-19 patients have died due to other reasons since April, 2020.
Kamrup Metro recorded eight new cases, followed by six in Dibrugarh, five each in Cachar and Kamrup Rural and four in Sivasagar.
Assam currently has 4,006 active cases As many as 28,582,444 samples have been tested in the state so far.

Thane records 169 new COVID-19 cases; active tally rises to 1,009
Maharashtra's Thane district has reported 169 new COVID-19 cases, taking its infection count to 7,35,293, a health official said on Monday. With the addition of the latest cases on Sunday, the district currently has 1,009 active COVID-19 cases as compared to 925 the previous day, he said.
There was no report of any death on Sunday and the COVID-19 fatality count in the district stood at 11,931.
