Kolkata: In yet another attack on Opposition politicians in West Bengal, actor and BJP leader Roopa Ganguly's convoy was targeted in Diamond Harbour near Kolkata today, allegedly by members of the ruling Trinamool Congress.

Ms Ganguly, who suffered head injuries, has been admitted to the district hospital, party sources said. She is out of danger.

The attack took place while Ms Ganguly was returning from Kakdwip in South 24 Parganas where she had gone to meet victims of political violence.

Roopa Ganguly had unsuccessfully contested from Howrah (North) against Trinamool's Laxmi Ratan Shukla in the recent assembly elections in Bengal.

The BJP is likely to hold protests against the attack tomorrow.

The state unit of the party is likely to ask for a boycott of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's oath ceremony on Friday, to which Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior BJP leaders like Arun Jaitley have been invited.

"We will first protest in a democratic manner. But other ways of answering these attacks are also known to us," said BJP state president Dilip Ghosh.
