The BJP on Friday released a list of 27 candidates for the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls, fielding Union minister L Murugan from Avanashi seat and former Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan from Mylapore.
BJP Mahila Morcha national president Vanathi Srinivasan will enter the fray from Coimbatore (North), according to a list issued by the party.
The party has named Kirthika Shivkumar as its candidate from Modakkurichi, S Vijayadharani from Vilavancode and Nagesh Kumar from the Thalli seat.
Polling for the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly will be held on April 23 and counting of votes will take place on May 4.
Union minister and BJP in-charge for elections in Tamil Nadu Piyush Goyal congratulated the candidates and said, "Backed by PM Narendra Modiji's leadership and the strong NDA alliance led by Edappadi K Palaniswami ji, each candidate carries the aspirations of the people of Tamil Nadu, who are tired of corruption, complacency and broken promises."
"With a united NDA, we are confident of ending years of misrule under the DMK and ushering in a new era where Tamil Nadu thrives with infrastructure, jobs and welfare for all," Goyal said in a post on X.
Together, we are committed to ensuring that the people of the state experience the promise of good governance in action, the senior BJP leader added.
