Bihar Election 2025 Powerplay LIVE: NDTV's Power Play - Bihar on Saturday brought together national and state political heavyweights, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, for debates and discussions that could shape the course of the upcoming assembly elections.

At the event at the Taj City Centre in Patna, Shah said Bihar is one of the most politically aware states in the country, and warned that 'jungle raj' may return if the Mahagathbandhan is voted to power.

Earlier in the day, Jan Suraaj chief Prashant Kishor made a bold prediction about his party's prospects in Bihar, saying it will either win fewer than 10 seats or sweep over 150. "I am very confident, Jan Suraaj will either secure less than 10 or over 150 seats in Bihar," he said.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Lok Sabha MP Manoj Tiwari and Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar were also among the prominent leaders who participated in the event.

With Bihar's political atmosphere heating up, the event could play a pivotal role in shaping narratives and the overall direction of the election campaign.

Here are the highlights from NDTV Bihar Power Play, Assembly Election 2025:

What Amit Shah Said On Mallikarjun Kharge's Demand For Ban On RSS

On Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge's call for a ban on the RSS, Amit Shah said: "He did not give any reason. Two of the Prime Ministers of our country are from the RSS and I feel they are the best Prime Ministers that the country has seen. The organisation has taught the youth to live for the country. The Sangh has many people who don't have any money or a house, they only have the will to work for the country."

Amit Shah Launches Scathing Attack On Rahul Gandhi

Amit Shah also hit out at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. "The Congress has been trying for the last 11 years. But I trust the people of the country. Rahul Gandhi doesn't debate on various issues in Parliament, he does walkout. He talks about these issues on the streets but not in the courts. When he gets the time to speak in Parliament, he is abroad. Then he comes back and says he wants to speak. But that's not how it works," he said.

On the Congress' charges against the Election Commission over poll results, he said: "The Congress is in a denial mode. When they win, they take oath without questioning the EC. When they lose, they claim there was cheating. (Former Prime Minister) Indira Gandhi also tried to influence the democratic process during the Emergency. After that, the EC has strengthened the whole process."

NDTV Power Play Bihar Live Updates: Country Not A 'Dharamshala', Says Amit Shah On Voter List Revision

On the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, Amit Shah said: "Sixty-five lakh people were cut from the voter lists in Bihar. Of these, 35 lakhs were those who were in Bihar and used to vote here and they haven't objected to it. The issue of illegal immigration is a security issue for us.  I want to ask the people of Bihar, should the names of illegal immigrants be in the voter list? The Opposition thinks of illegal immigrants as their vote bank any my stand is that their names should be deleted from the voter list of entire country. So they will be detected, deleted from the list and then deported."

He added: "Our country is not a 'dharamshala'. The right to cast vote is only for those who is a citizen."

Backbone Of Maoism Is Broken Now, Says Amit Shah

Speaking on Maoism, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said: "The backbone of Maoism has been broken now... There is a rehab centre for those who have surrendered, there are skill development programmes for them. And for the top Maoists, we have a surveillance programme."

He is the Chief Minister. We are fighting under his leadership. As far as the Chief Minister face is concerned, there is a constitutional process for that, it will be decided after the polls."

NDTV Power Play Bihar Live Updates: Employment Is Different From Jobs, Says Amit Shah

"Employment can mean self-employment or MSMEs. Employment can be created in multiple ways. Employment is different from jobs. Tejashwi has said they will give over two crore jobs. Bihar's budget will not be able to accommodate it. It will have to be 4x to accommodate that promise," Amit Shah said.

"If we need to reduce migration, we will have to create the opportunity of self-employment in Bihar itself," he added.

NDTV Power Play Bihar Live Updates: Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi Dragged Bihar Backwards, Says Amit Shah

RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife, Rabri Devi dragged Bihar backwards, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said. "See where Bihar was and where it is today. Violence got political protection in Bihar."

Speaking on the Mokama murder involving a Jan Suraaj party supporter, he said: "What happened isn't right. But do the killers get political protection anymore like they used to get earlier? They don't get protection and which is why the law and order situation has improved."

Bihar Situation Has Improved Under Nitish Kumar, Says Amit Shah

"Today, there are four bridges on the Ganga and there are 10 more are in the works. No one had imagined that this could even happen. In the past regime, the discussions were about robbery, murder and loot and today, the discussion is about progress," Amit Shah said.

"You can ask any youngster and they will say that the law and order situation has improved in the state under the Nitish Kumar regime and that has been the fundamental of progress," he added.

Should Government Be Formed Based On Votes Of Illegal Immigrants, Asks Piyush Goyal

On the Special Intensive Revision in Bihar, Piyush Goyal said: "If someone is dead, if someone has moved to Mumbai, if a person is not a citizen of the country, shouldn't the names of these people be cut from the list? Should the government be formed based on the votes of illegal immigrants? The poll body hasn't cut the name of any individual who is eligible to cast a vote."

Union Minister Piyush Goyal also took note of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's charge that the NDA copied the Mahagathbandhan's manifesto.

He also said that Nitish Kumar's track record is in front of everyone. "Everyone has seen the track record of PM Modi at the Centre," he said.

Mahagathbandhan Should Not Return To Bihar Even By Mistake, Says Piyush Goyal

On the Marathi row, the minister said: "This is not acceptable to us. This was started by Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray, and they are part of the Mahagathbandhan. Which is why they shouldn't be given a chance to make a comeback, even by mistake in Bihar."

What Piyush Goyal Said On Data Showing Increase In Crimes In Bihar

On data indicating an increase in crimes, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said: "In the past regime, if there was a crime, no one would dare to register an FIR. If you couldn't even register a case, what would the data say? But now the farmers' incomes have increased, women can venture out at dark without fear."

NDTV Power Play Bihar Live Updates: Migration Not Always Bad, Says Piyush Goyal

"Migration out of the city is not always bad. If a person from Bihar goes to Japan, is it bad? People from Bihar are now becoming job creators," Union Minister Piyush Goyal said.

The Union Minister also claimed that there is not much influx of the new generation of Biharis into other states.

Bihar Moving Forward, That Is Basis Of Manifesto, Says Piyush Goyal

"The kind of infrastructure that we have in Bihar now, no one would have imagined that in the past. No one would have thought that Patna will get a metro train. There used to be permanent chaos in Patna. There were railway tracks in the middle of the city centre. Now there are flyovers and other infrastructure development. Bihar is moving forward and that is the basis for the manifesto," Piyush Goyal said.

NDTV Bihar Power Play Live Updates: Regional Parties Cannot Be Ignored, Says Kanhaiya Kumar

While Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar did not directly address the question of the Congress's future in Bihar, he said there are certain situations where a national party will have to work with a regional party even if it is not the most ideal partnership.

"Increase or decrease in seats to contest is not the right way to look at this. What's important is to ask what we can do most effectively to develop Bihar. In some states, there is a clear BJP vs Congress opposing frontline. But in some states in the heartland, regional parties cannot be wished away. Every national party has to come to terms with the fact that it will have to work with a regional party," he said.

"BJP Will Treat Nitish Kumar The Way It Treated Eknath Shinde," Says Kanhaiya Kumar

To a question about why the Congress is not contesting on more seats, unlike its national rival BJP which is contesting an equal number of seats as its regional ally Janata Dal (United), or JD(U), Kumar said the right way to look at it is from the context of intention.

"We are not bothered with how many seats we will contest. We have no intention of gobbling up regional parties and forcing a chief minister of our choice. The BJP will, however, give Nitish Kumar the same treatment they gave to Eknath Shinde. The only difference is that Shinde came to BJP first and Shiv Sena later, while here the JD(U) went first and Nitish Kumar will come later, to be made irrelevant," Kumar said.

Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar is currently speaking at the event. "To the people of Bihar, I want to say that if you're happy with the government, then we have no right to demand your support. But if you are not happy with the ruling party, use your vote properly to bring change in Bihar," he said.

Bihari Doesn't Mean Backward, Says JioStar Vice Chairman Uday Shankar

JioStar Vice Chairman Uday Shankar also said: "Bihari doesn't mean backward. They are the most enterprising people but the state clearly has earned a bad name because of the things that it has or hasn't done. Let's not invoke in any public discourse. Fight along caste lines to win the elections but after you win, declare we will not discuss caste. Then discuss five things that will generate employment."

NDTV Bihar Power Play Live Updates: Economic Growth Must Be Prioritised, Says Uday Shankar

"Bihar is landlocked but today, there is no limitation on capital. Politicians should make sure that whichever party form the government, investments arrive at the state. One has to prioritise economic growth. Until the politicians decide that these issues are non-negotiable, nothing can be done," Uday Shankar said.

"There is a broader conspiracy that a person shouldn't forget about his/her caste. Employment and jobs are not one and the same thing. No government has the power to give jobs to everyone, so they have to create employment opportunities. So if you want to bring in industries, you will have to give land, loan and build infrastructure," he added.

Watch: Actor Neetu Chandra's Rapid Fire At NDTV Bihar Power Play

What Actor Neetu Chandra Said On Deputy Chief Minister's 'Nachaniya' Remark

Actor Neetu Chandra said she looks up to actors Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha.

On Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary's 'nachaniya' remark, she said: "In the olden times, artistes would be referred to as 'nachaniya'. Now you can choose if you want to say and interpret it in a derogatory tone or in a respectful way. So the tone matters."

Want To Be Lead Actor In My Upcoming Movies, Says Actor Neetu Chandra

"I am doing a Hollywood, a Hindi and a Bhojpuri film. I want their timings to clash and I want to be the lead actor in all of them. I have got offers to join politics," the actor said.

Actor Neetu Chandra Speaks About 'Taboo Against Biharis'

Speaking about her journey in the film industry, actor Neetu Chandra said: "A girl from a middle-class family to Hollywood - that has been my journey. There is a taboo against Biharis. If you accept Marathi and Punjabi accents, you have to accept ours as well. I always say that I will change my accent only when you ask me to do it on stage or for a role," she said.

"You can be beautiful, presentable, but if you want to be an actor, if you are ready for rejection and still ready to break open all the closed doors, then only go for this profession. If your Neetu didi can do it, you all can do it too," she told the crowd.

No One Bought Bihari Movies For Nine Years, Says Actor Neetu Chandra

"No one bought any of our films for nine years. Even the film that won the national award wasn't bought by anyone. No OTT platform bought that. So we launched our own platform - Bejod - and that's where you can find that national award-winning movie. I don't worry about box office. I don't let anyone's money go to waste. That's how I work," Neetu Chandra said.

"My upbringing defines my work. In my first movie, there are songs by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal. All my movies can be watched by families. I can only talk about my work. If there is a competition between a national awardee actor and an actor of soft porn, soft porn will win. So that's how things are," she added.

No Bihari Movie Is Shot In Bihar, Says Actor Neetu Chandra

"I have been trying for 15 years to empower the people of Bihar. Change starts from your own home. It's easy to criticise but it's difficult to fix the things that bother us. I request everyone to come and vote. Bihar doesn't have a film industry. No Bihari film is shot in Bihar. So these films are not from Bihar. But, we have been filming all our movies in Bihar, irrespective of whether there was a policy or not," actor Neetu Chandra said.

"You Don't Wrestle With Pigs": Shambhavi Choudhary On Prashant Kishor's Corruption Charge

LJP MP Shambhavi Choudhary also responded to Jan Suraaj party founder Prashant Kishor's corruption charge against her family.

"You don't wrestle with pigs. The pigs enjoy it and you get dirty. I categorically deny all his charges. There is no basis to his accusations. If we were wrong, why would we go to court, why would we file a defamation case? He targeted the backward classes with his charges. He is a casteist person."

What Shambhavi Choudhary Said On NDA Not Projecting Chirag Paswan As Chief Minister Face

On the NDA not projecting LJP (RV) chief Chirag Paswan as the chief ministerial candidate, Choudhary said: "Chirag Paswan always says when we are in an alliance, every decision should be first for the country, then your region, then your party and then if there is some scope, for yourself. Whatever Chirag Paswan says will be our decision."

She added: "He wanted to contest the assembly elections, but he left the decision to the party. And the party decided that he shouldn't.  And, he is canvassing as much for the JD(U) candidate as much for the BJP candidate."

"Chhath Festival An Emotion For Bihar": Shambhavi Choudhary Hits Out At Rahul Gandhi

"Chhath is not just a festival for Bihar, it's an emotion for Bihar. So, when you don't know about a four-day festival, you shouldn't comment on it," Choudhary said, amid a political row over Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's "drama" remark.

"The way Rahul Gandhi made it a political issue, that was wrong. PM Modi came here, he wished the people of the state, he didn't do politics. I don't know who guides Gandhi but if he didn't know about Chhath, he shouldn't have spoken about it," she added.

PM Modi had also attacked Gandhi over his remarks this week.

Women Feel Safe Under RJD Rule, Says Shambhavi Choudhary

"I saw a reel where a woman said whenever the RJD comes to power we feel unsafe. We feel safer when they are not in power. It's important to remind the people of Bihar that the RJD government drove the state towards bleakness and poverty," Choudhary said.

"Everyone knows I am a third-generation politician. I have always said that I know nothing else but politics. Chirag Paswan is a leader who talks about the participation of youth in the politics. I was chosen by the people of Samastipur. It's one profession where you have take a test every five years," Choudhary said.

"As far as the LJP is concerned, they have fielded as many women and as many youth as they could," she added.

What LJP MP Said On Fewer Tickets To Women For Bihar Elections

"When a woman enters politics, it's a big thing. When we talk about numbers, it should go up. But we are at least moving in the right direction," Shambhavi Choudhary said in response to a question of providing tickets to fewer women.

Women In Bihar Now Celebrate Festivals With Own Money, Says Shambhavi Chaudhary

"We we talk about political participation, women are a key factor. Our leaders say that we are in a time where just talking about women empowerment is enough, now we have to talk about women's leadership. We are from a patriarchal society, Bihar's women used to think that as their reality. But after 2005, this changed,"  LJP MP Shambhavi Chaudhary said.

"We have been working for women since 2005. This year, we saw that women celebrated festivals with their own money. That's the change that we have seen," she added.

Kanhaiya Kumar Tells NDTV Why He's Not Fighting Bihar Election

Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar explained why he is not contesting the assembly election in Bihar, despite his constant rhetoric about bringing change in his state. While the assembly election presented the shortest route to working for the people of Bihar, the former student leader instead turned his focus toward national politics.

"I went to study there [Delhi], not to contest elections. If Patna University was very good, I wouldn't have left home and gone outside the state to study. But after I joined a political party, I had to follow the party's instructions, and go wherever they deploy me," Kumar said at NDTV's Bihar Power Play in Patna.

"Congress Always Focuses On Lower, Middle Classes, Women, Farmers": Ranjeet Ranjan

Asked if the Congress is satisfied with its ally, the RJD's formula that every family will get one government job, Ranjeet Ranjan said: "The Congress has always made promises for the country's lower and middle classes, women, farmers and the education sector. We take this vision further to stop migration and give government employment to the state's youth. And if we spill the beans about our plans in this regard, wouldn't the BJP copy us?"

Did Rahul Gandhi Insult Chhath Puja? What Congress MP Said

Congress Rajya Sabha MP Ranjeet Ranjan was asked about the controversy triggered by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over "Chhathi Maiyya". She responded: "It is unfortunate you are not questioning the NDA manifesto where it said it would give employment to one crore people. Is this possible? From 2014 till now, the NDA promised to give two crore jobs every year. Has this happened? Don't the people of Bihar feel cheated?"

She added: "When it comes to the back and forth statements about Chhathi Maiyya, Modi is our PM. I want to ask whether Yamuna or Ganga will be cleaned? Will Delhi ever be pollution-free? The BJP is being questioned on these issues. And to evade these answers, the BJP talks about Rahul Gandhi and Chatthi Maiyya."

NDTV Power Play Live Updates: 18 Lakh Jobs Created By Nitish Government, Says Ravi Shankar Prasad

On the youth of Bihar complaining about lack of jobs, the BJP leader said: "I must put the record straight. Ninety-four thousand jobs were created during the Lalu-Rabri regime. Now, 18 lakh jobs have been given by the Nitish government. One crore jobs have been promised. But I'm on a larger take about jobs. One is employment is in government, one is creating employment opportunities. If so many flyovers,  so many highways, if rural electricity has reached, it can be attributed to the large number of work opportunities being created."

Bihar Has Misfortune Of Bad Governance For Many Years, Says Ravi Shankar Prasad

On being asked why hasn't Google come to Bihar, former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said: "Bihar has the misfortune of bad governance of many years. But today, you can reach any part of India by road from Bihar. Go and have a travel around the Marine Drive. I played a crucial role in getting the new Patna airport executed. TCS has come to Patna, two central universities have come to Bihar, new medical colleges have come. There is a remarkable turnaround in that process. The BPO industry is doing to well in Bihar."

He added: "But since you asked why didn't IT come to Bihar, apart from the South and Delhi-NCR, where has IT gone? As an IT minister, it was my responsibility to ensure digital inclusion as a part of digital India. Today, digital India has become a big movement. Digital payments are best performing in Bihar.
