Bal Thackeray's condition stable: Report

Bal Thackeray's condition stable: Report
Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, who is admitted to the Lilavati Hospital, is currently stable, according to reports.

The 86-year-old Shiv Sena patriarch was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday and was moved back to his room yesterday after being temporarily shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He was admitted to the ICU after he had breathing problems, say reports.

Mr Thackeray is expected to remain in the hospital for some time for routine check-ups.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari and nephew Raj Thackeray have visited the Shiv Sena chief at the Lilavati Hospital in Bandra.

Raj Thackeray, till very recently, was estranged and a political rival, having broken away six years ago to float his own party, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).  Last week, however, when Bal Thackeray's son Uddhav was admitted to hospital with chest pains and was then diagnosed with three blockages in his heart, Raj rushed back to Mumbai from Alibaug.

That evening Raj drove Uddhav home in his silver Mercedes. At Matoshree, where Bal Thackeray lives with his family, Raj spent half an hour talking with his uncle. He has since made several visits to the Thackeray residence.
