Sydney:
Police in Australia charged a man today for attacking a 22-year-old Indian Himanshu Goyal, owner of a restaurant, earlier this month.
The 19-year-old man surrendered to the police in connection with the attack on Mr Goyal while he was closing his restaurant in Bridge Mall at Ballarat in the Australian state of Victoria on June 7, according to media reports.
Eight accused in the case, all believed to be in their late teens, punched Mr Goyal in his face leaving him with multiple fractures to his jaw.
The 19-year-old man has been charged with recklessly causing serious injury, assault and using insulting words in a public place.
He has been released on bail and will appear in Ballarat Magistrates' Court on July 29.
Ballarat mayor John Hurt had expressed disgust at the incident and had vowed to hunt down the perpetrators of the attack.
