11 Nepalese girls rescued in Uttar Pradesh, one man held

Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh: Eleven girls from Nepal were rescued and a man was arrested after a human-trafficking racket was busted Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh by a team of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), official sources said today.

The incident came to light yesterday, when the 11 girls were being taken to Tuthibari on Indo-Nepal Border when the SSB, acting on a tip off, reached the spot and rescued them and arrested a man named Prakash, who hailed from Pokhara (in Nepal), Prateek Gupta, Assistant Commandant, SSB said.

He said the arrested man admitted that his gang had sent 20 girls to different Gulf countries so far and were preparing to send 18 more.

During interrogation, the arrested man revealed that he was supposed to hand over the girls to his accomplice in Delhi after taking Rs 5,000 for each of the girl.

The girls have been sent back to Nepal, Mr Gupta said.
