What causes delayed healing of wound?
Question
My 38 years old brother-in-law met with an accident and got operated five years back. The wound was also not healed. He also underwent a fusion surgery after cleaning the infection. He is non-diabetic, but even after 15 days of surgery, his wound has not healed yet. How can his wound be healed?

Delayed wound healing could be due to many causes like local infection, underlying dead tissue, specific infections, poor blood supply, anaemia or vitamin deficiency, low albumin level, oral drugs – cortisone, immune compromised status and repeated trauma. I normally recommend hydrogen peroxide irrigation, application of Deca-durabolin cream and to keep the area elevated.
