Omega-3 (sold as Maxepa) is indicated in patients of high triglyceride levels at risk of ischaemic heart diseases. These fatty acids are sourced from fish. Vegetarians can eat soybeans and walnut and their oils. These contain alpha-linolenic acid (LNA), which can become omega-3 fatty acid in the body. The extent of this modification is modest.
