New Delhi: Tamil actor Arya, real name Jamshad Cethirakath, has hilariously sent Twitter into a meltdown by posting a matrimonial ad for himself. Two days ago, 36-year-old Arya tweeted a video of himself inviting prospective brides to contact him. Only women who are genuinely interested need apply, Arya said, adding that he was routing his search for a 'soulmate' through social media after a conversation he had in the gym about getting married went public. Arya's tweet, pinned to the top of his feed, swiftly went viral and had 19,000 likes, over 4,000 retweets and nearly 2,000 comments at last count.

These responses include messages from many of Arya's showbiz colleagues. Like Khushbu and Trisha Krishnan, many said they couldn't stop laughing. Radhika Sarathkumar had doubts that Arya's intentions were kosher. Rana Daggubati wished him luck and Allu Sirish helped out by posting an appeal on behalf of Arya.

Twitter is in danger of crashing, Arya was warned in several other appreciative comments.

Here's a transcript of Arya's video message, by The News Minute for non-Tamil speakers: "Last week, there was a video of me at the gym. It was a prank by my friends but it is true, I am looking for my life partner. Generally, people look for their life partner through their friends, family, or through matrimonial sites. But I am not like that. I don't have any demands or conditions. If you like me, and if you think I will make a good life partner, please call on 7330173301. This is not a joke or a prank. This is my life. Waiting for your call."

A call to this number will take you to a recorded message of Arya that directs you to a matrimonial website Arya appears to have set up, where prospective brides are expected to fill in forms, listing their interests, sharing information about themselves and telling Arya why they would like to marry him and why they are a suitable candidate. Caste, religion, language are no bar and divorcees are welcome to apply as well. There is even a `tip' that women should post a video of themselves so he can get to know their `personality.'

We'll be tracking Arya's Twitter closely for updates on his relationship status.

Arya, who works primarily in Tamil and Malayalam films, is known for his performances in Naan Kadavul, Madrasapattinam, Boss Engira Bhaskaran and Vettai. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut -South and was awarded the Kalaimamani by the Tamil Nadu government in 2011.
