New Delhi: Iranian auteur Majid Majidi has wrapped the shooting of his India-set film Beyond The Clouds. The film marks the debut of Shahid Kapoor's half-brother Ishaan Khattar and Malayalam theatre actress Malavika Mohanan. Beyond The Clouds, set in Mumbai, focusses on the relationship of a brother and sister, played by Ishaan and Malavika respectively. "Everyone was emotional as their life's most cherished shoot came to an end," a spokesperson of Zee Studios and Eyecandy Films told Mumbai Mirror. Beyond The Clouds is currently under the post-production stage. The Indo-Iranian project is Majid Majidi's first ever film to be shot in India. Beyond The Clouds is jointly produced by Zee Studios and Eyecandy Films.
Ishaan Khattar shared some pictures from the sets of the film.
Mumbai Mirror reports that legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray was the inspiration behind his project. "Filmmakers like Satayajit Ray have represented India's culture, its rich heritage and the lives of common people to a global audience. These visions and images have stayed in my mind for year. That's what cajoled me to make a film in India," he told Mumbai Mirror.
The shooting of Beyond The Clouds began in February. The first poster was unveiled in the same month. "This poster is Majidi's vision for the film and his special showcase of India seen from his lens and sets the tone of the project that the viewers can look forward to," the makers of the film said in statement, reported news agency IANS.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Deepika Padukone will play the leading lady in the film after some pictures of the actress with Mr Majidi swiftly went viral on social media. Later, the filmmaker confirmed that Deepika wouldn't be a part of the film. "I want to work with Deepika, but for this film we'll have to go with new faces," he told mid-day.
Malvika's casting in Beyond The Clouds was confirmed a couple of months ago. "Majid Majidi found his leading lady in Malavika as he was looking for a face, that could fit the character," IANS quoted a source from the film's unit as saying.
The first look poster of Beyond The Clouds was released at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival.
