Mumbai: Actor-Filmmaker Aamir Khan's wife Kiran Rao says that her debut directorial venture Dhobi Ghat is about the city of Mumbai, its essence and people.

"What started five years ago as a vague idea is now a 100-minute reality and I am most excited and very nervous," Kiran said in a handwritten invitation for the unveiling of the film's first look on November 17.

Taking a leaf out of her husband Aamir Khan's marketing strategies to promote movies, Kiran will personally write personal notes on post cards while sharing herexperiences of Mumbai as well as shooting of the movie in the city every week.

The handwritten invitation was first part of such an exercise.

"Dhobhi Ghat is essentially about Mumbai, its essence and its people. A story about four characters in city of Mumbai," she said.

The film will be releasing on January 21, 2011 after having won critical acclaim at Toronto and London International Film Festivals earlier this year.

It stars Prateik Babbar and Aamir Khan and two new actors in female lead - Kriti Malhotra and Monica Dogra.

Dhobi Ghat is Aamir's home production and this time he has decided to take a backseat as a producer and let his wife take centerstage in the run-up to the release.
