Delhi elections: What the three major parties promise in their manifesto

New Delhi: Delhi votes for a new Assembly on December 4 and here is a quick recap of what the three major players - the ruling Congress, the BJP and debutant Aam Aadmi Party have promised in their manifestos:

BJP's Dr Harsh Vardhan:

• Reduction in electricity charges by 30 per cent; reduction in vegetable prices within 30 days of coming to power; and 12 subsidised LPG cylinders in a year to each household
• Full statehood to the city for smoother implementation of projects
• Setting up of 24-hour call centres and a dedicated 'Women Security Force' under the direct supervision of the Chief Minister. More fast track courts for trials of serious offences against women
• Regularisation of all unauthorised colonies and developing them as DDA colonies for which layout fund would be provided by the government
• Promotion of bicycle culture in Delhi by introducing cycle and pedestrian lanes on roads; a centralised traffic plan to tackle traffic jams.

Ruling Congress's Sheila Dikshit:

• A common economic taxation zone for the National Capital Region, and single command for Delhi to reduce multiplicity of authorities
• To provide subsidised food grains under the Food Security Act to 73 lakh people in Delhi
• Dedicated hawking zones so that the migrant population is not harassed by police or the MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) officials
• Subsidised water up to 40 litres for domestic consumers; three new water treatment plants to be set up
• Housing units in place of existing slums which are largely inhabited by poor migrants from neighbouring states; four lakh flats for the economically weaker sections of society

Aam Aadmi Party's Arvind Kejriwal:

• Jan Lokpal or an anti-corruption ombudsman within 15 days by calling an open session of the Delhi Assembly on December 29
• 50 per cent reduction in power tarrif by ordering audit of discoms, rectifying inflated bill and getting electricity bills checked by independent agencies
• Free water for households using up to 700 litres water per day
  
• Citizens Security Forces with a branch in each ward; swift justice in cases of crimes against women; lighting and security provisions on roads, parks, buses and all public places
